Ally Empowerment Workshops

Our “Common Ground” ally empowerment workshops provide an opportunity for participants to collaboratively explore constructive ways to tackle name-calling, bullying, exclusion, harassment and other discriminatory behavior.

Through story-sharing, discussion and a variety of theatre and anti-bias exercises, we examine discrimination in the abstract and as it directly affects our lives. Participants then use a combination of Augusto Boal’s Forum Theatre and Fringe Benefits’ “Rewind & Fast-Forward” improvisational theatre techniques to bring their stories to life, to explore motivations and consequences of discriminatory behavior, and to practice constructive ways to respond to and prevent discriminatory behavior.

We will be happy to come to your school or community center and conduct a workshop, In-Service, or Professional Development Training with students, educators, counselors and/or community members.
